    Question:

I started takin effexor  about 1 month ago. i was pretty wacked out for a bout 2weeks, but now i look forward to everyday, and i don’t really worry about anything, This is all at 37.5 mg. I think it’s making me manic. Has anyone had a response like mine?                                        John Dough

I had been taking Efexor XR (one ‘f’ in Efexor in Australia for some reason) for two months on 75mg/day with very little effect, except for the side effects at first. About two weeks after my doctor upped the dose to 150mg/day I really am like a new person – feeling amazingly well. I seem to have my life back. Your comment about feeling manic is interesting as I kind of feel that way, wanting to do everything at once to make up for lost opportunities, and I need far less sleep. I dislike taking drugs, but I’ll enjoy this while it lasts. In my case, Efexor does indeed rock!! Kind regards, John :-)

John, have you had any problems reaching an orgasm on 75mg 3 times a day? That is my only complaint.. curious. Mike in Los Angeles.

Hi Mike Yes that is a problem. It occurred almost overnight when I first started taking it but gradually got a bit better. When the dosage was upped to 150mg/day it happened again. It’s slowly getting a little better but as I’m not in a relationship at the moment it’s not too bad. Kind regards, John

    Response:

Heck yeah it can make you manic. All AD’s can. I was in my doctors office. There was a med book there for doctors. It said it can throw us into hypomania or mania. Also it can create uncontrollable sucide…just alot of stuff you never hear about I was shocked…and ticked off we are not informed. I am on effexor xr… and I will never go off it. That with my other meds keep me alive. And it’s good to be alive.

    Response:

It’s been good for me.  I wouldn’t say I’ve been manic, but my energy level is higher and I am jumpy, especially right after I take it.  I will jiggle my legs or feet, etc. It seems to make me sleepy sometimes, and makes it harder to go to sleep sometimes. But it seems to have helped quite a bit.
