Question:
I’ve noticed that about a week before my time of the month, I get shocking headaches and really crazy dreams -and I also yell out in my sleep alot. Would that be because of the hormones that normally cause my PMS interact with the efexor somehow, and that makes the side- effects of the drug alot worse? Is there any other women on Efexor that experience this? Kara.
Response:
Oh btw when I say I yell out in my sleep, I mean YELL! I also scream and shake and mumble things (I know all this coz my boyfriend – poor thing! – has to put up with it. On a few occasions I’ve even kicked and punched him!) I used to talk in my sleep – but it was never this extreem until I started Efexor.

Response:
hya I have always had headaches about 2 days before my period, so I dont think that (for me anyway) that efexor has naything to do with it. I had a really crazy dream last night, but I am not due for another 2 weeks! Actually, I find that the efexor minimises the effects of PMT, but thats just my experience. I’m sure that the levels of hormones in our bodies at certain times of the month interact with our meds to some degree, but I am just taking a stab in the dark with this one. Who would be woman with all the sh!te we have to put up with each month! thats all i can say. i also pity the poor men/women that have to put up with someone with PMT too! hope you dont shout out anything too embarrassing in your sleep

Response:
Kara, I’ve had the same problem since I started meds about 2 years ago. I started on Prozac and I’ve recently changed to Effexor. During the night I sweat buckets, dream like crazy and also shout, kick and punch out – occasionally hitting my wife. I’m a fella so I can’t put it down to PMS. I think it’s the typical side effect (un)lucky dip that we get from the range of possibles on these meds. Sounds like the PMS is adding it’s penny’s worth into the soup in your case. My wife is pretty stoic about it – she’d rather take a clump occasionally than cope with me when I’m deep down. Good luck to you and yours. Mick
